About Diddly Squat Farm Blackberry Jam

About Diddly Squat Farm Blackberry Jam

You have watched a man who used to review supercars try to work out a tractor. Now you can put his farm on your toast.

Diddly Squat Farm Blackberry Jam comes from the Oxfordshire farm made famous by Clarkson's Farm, and it is the UK jar, shipped from within Canada.

Blackberry is the jam of late summer hedgerows, purple fingers and a scratch or two you pretended not to mind. Spread it thick. Nobody at Diddly Squat would do it any other way.

It also starts conversations. Leave it on the counter and see who asks about it first.

Frequently asked questions about Diddly Squat Farm Blackberry Jam

Q: Is this jam from Jeremy Clarkson's farm?

A: Yes, it carries the Diddly Squat Farm name, the farm in Oxfordshire you know from Clarkson's Farm. Whether he made it himself is another matter, and we would not ask Kaleb.

Q: How big is the jar?

A: It is a 340g jar. Enough for a good run of breakfasts, or a couple of weekends of scones if you are generous with it.

Q: Is it a good gift?

A: For anyone who has watched the show, very. It is the sort of present that gets photographed before it gets opened.

More about Diddly Squat Farm Blackberry Jam

Blackberry jam has always been the slightly wilder cousin of strawberry. It is what goes on a warm scone when someone wants a change, on hot buttered toast on a grey Sunday, or into the middle of a jam roly-poly when the custard is already on.

In Canada, people come looking for this one for two reasons. Some grew up with blackberry jam in the cupboard and simply miss it. Others have watched every episode of Clarkson's Farm and want a jar from the place itself, ideally to leave somewhere visible.

It is a 340g jar, a proper breakfast-table size. It sits happily in the cupboard until you open it, then goes in the fridge like any other jam. A teaspoon on the side of the plate is allowed. A teaspoon straight from the jar is between you and the fridge light.

It sits nicely next to a box of proper British tea and a packet of crumpets, which is more or less a full breakfast plan. Add some British biscuits and you have a parcel that will make a Clarkson's Farm fan very quiet for a while.

The story of Diddly Squat Farm Blackberry Jam

Jam from a farm called nothing

A jam from a farm named after how little it produces. You have to admire the honesty. You will know the place from Clarkson's Farm on Amazon Prime Video, and you will know about the queues. This jar skips the queue entirely. Jam on hot buttered toast is about as British a breakfast as it gets, and the official shop says its jams are homemade using produce from Diddly Squat Farm. Not bad going for a man who named his own farm after nothing.

A thousand acres of diddly squat

Jeremy Clarkson bought about a thousand acres near Chipping Norton in 2008, land that was formerly part of the Sarsden estate. A local villager contract-farmed it until his retirement in 2019, and after that Clarkson began farming it himself. He renamed it Diddly Squat to indicate its lack of productivity, the phrase being slang for the least amount, or nothing. Most people would keep that sort of thing quiet. He made it the name. Then Clarkson's Farm made it internationally known.

Forty tonnes of accidental potatoes

The Diddly Squat Farm Shop was opened in 2020 by Jeremy Clarkson and Lisa Hogan. It was Clarkson's idea, after he accidentally produced 40 tonnes of potatoes on the farm. Accidentally. Forty tonnes. The shop is now known for drawing very long visitor queues, and it once faced a two-month closure after a council dispute over the roofing material used on the building. A row with the council about a roof. Very British, start to finish.

From the Cotswolds to your toast

Diddly Squat products are produced on the farm itself or by neighbouring businesses in the Cotswolds. In 2024 they became available nationwide via Amazon Fresh, the first time they were sold on the UK high street. There is a lager too, Hawkstone, created from barley grown on the farm after a cut in government farm subsidies in 2021. The lager can wait. This one is for the toast, the scone, and the spoon you swear you only dipped in once.
