British Biscuits in Canada
Chocolate digestives, custard creams and zero interest in crumb-free self-control.
About this collection
Biscuits are rarely bought with complete honesty. People come for one pack of digestives, then remember Hobnobs, shortbread, custard creams and whatever Fox’s creams have been coming up with lately.
These are the packets that get opened with tea, with guests, in the car, or five minutes after saying they are being saved. Worth keeping a few in, especially the classics, because the urge for a chocolate digestive is remarkably unhelpful when the tin is down to crumbs and false confidence.
British biscuits and cookies have a useful way of making an ordinary cup of tea feel like an occasion. Rich Tea, Hobnobs, chocolate digestives and sandwich creams all have their own following. Holding a committee meeting about which packet to open is optional, though surprisingly common.
British biscuits for a tea break worth taking
A cup of tea without a biscuit feels like a meeting that could have been an email. There is something missing, and everybody knows it. Our British biscuit range brings together the oaty crunch of Hobnobs, the cream-filled regulars and the packets that get opened before the kettle has finished.
We send orders from our Halifax shop across Canada. Start with the sort of biscuit you actually want: something for dunking, something with a filling, or a chocolate-coated excuse to stop what you are doing.
The dunking discussion
Original Hobnobs for the oat fans, Ginger Nuts for a little more bite. Both are familiar tea break company. How long either spends in the mug is a matter for your own household rules.

View full detailsWhich British biscuits do you sell in Canada?
The range includes McVitie’s Hobnobs, Ginger Nuts, Custard Creams and Bourbons, plus Jammie Dodgers and chocolate biscuit bars. They all go out from our Halifax shop, ready to restock the biscuit tin and keep the kettle busy.
What is the difference between a Custard Cream and a Bourbon?
Custard Creams have a vanilla-flavoured biscuit and custard-style cream centre. Bourbons are chocolate sandwich biscuits with a cocoa cream filling. That usually settles the question, unless you are the person who buys both.
What is a Jammie Dodger?
A shortcake biscuit filled with sweet raspberry jam, and a British favourite from the first school lunchbox onwards. It sits very nicely next to a cup of tea and a person who claims to be having just the one.
What are British biscuits?
What most Canadians would call cookies, only built for dunking in tea. Think oaty Hobnobs, crunchy Ginger Nuts, cream-filled Custard Creams and Bourbons, and Penguins in their milk chocolate flavour coat, all going out from our Halifax shop to kettles across the country.
