This is where sensible shopping starts to wobble a bit. We can have shelves full of reliable favourites, and still the thing people want most is the new Cadbury bar, the latest biscuit variation, or some oddly specific flavour that sounds questionable on paper but clearly needs investigating.

It is the easiest way to see what has just shown up from the UK without rummaging through the whole shop.
Chocolate usually gets the early attention, and fairly enough. Newer lines like Galaxy Salted Caramel, Dairy Milk Golden Crisp and Cadbury Milk Chocolate Cake Bars tend to be the first products customers click on. Then come the biscuit and cake arrivals, including McVitie’s Tasties Bourbon Creams, Jacob’s Cheddars and a solid run of Mr Kipling favourites such as Cherry Bakewells, Jam Tarts, Fruit Pies and sponge puddings in sticky toffee, raspberry, lemon and golden syrup.
This collection works because it is not too neat. New British groceries in Canada do not arrive in perfectly behaved categories, and that is part of the appeal. One week it is Vimto Sugar Free, Marmite, Fruittella Strawberry or Chef Chip Shop Curry Sauce. Another week it is a novelty biscuit tin, a seasonal chocolate release or something so oddly specific you are not entirely sure who asked for it. Then it sells anyway.
