Comfort, mostly: gravy over the roast, custard over the pudding, dumplings on the stew. A single tin of Ambrosia custard is a perfectly good reason to visit, since there is no minimum order, but few people stop there. Rice pudding, Aunt Bessie’s dumplings and Aunty’s Golden Syrup Pudding have a way of finding each other in a basket.
