The story of Moo Free White Chocolate Advent Calendar
One door a day, allegedly
Nobody has ever opened just the one door. You know this. You have watched a child find tomorrow's chocolate by Tuesday lunchtime and look you dead in the eye. Moo Free's White Chocolate Advent Calendar is that whole December ritual: the countdown on the kitchen windowsill, the row over whose turn it is, a British Christmas getting closer one door at a time. And it exists because people asked Mike and Andrea Jessop for exactly this, over and over, until they made one.

They put the house on it
In 2008 the Jessops made a small number of Easter eggs. They proved so popular that the requests came flooding in, an Advent calendar among them. So they re-mortgaged their house to pay for machinery and ingredients, then spent two years perfecting the recipe. Moo Free officially launched in May 2010. The idea from the start was to let more children join in the traditional seasonal chocolate occasions, Easter eggs and Advent calendars included. Nobody should have to watch from the sidelines while the doors get opened.
Devon, then a fair bit further
Holsworthy, Devon is home. A second factory opened there in 2014, right next to the first, to meet rising global demand. In 2016 Moo Free won a Queen's Award for Enterprise, after tripling its production capacity to supply the US and Chinese markets and exporting to more than 30 countries. Back home, their chocolate has been stocked in over 400 Marks and Spencer stores across the UK. Not bad for a couple who started with a few Easter eggs and a re-mortgaged house.
Still the Jessops' show
Moo Free is still family-run, still led by Mike and Andrea, and now employs over 60 people in Devon. The factories and head office send zero waste to landfill. Which leaves just one waste problem for your December: the empty calendar on Christmas Eve, every door hanging open, and someone insisting it was like that when they found it.
