About Diddly Squat Farm Strawberry Jam

About Diddly Squat Farm Strawberry Jam

You have watched the man lose arguments with sheep, tractors and the council. Now you can spread the results on your toast. Diddly Squat Farm Strawberry Jam comes from Jeremy Clarkson's farm in the Cotswolds, the one off the telly.

And it is strawberry, which is the jam. Toast, scones, the middle of a Victoria sponge, a teaspoon straight from the jar when nobody is looking.

Fans of Clarkson's Farm have been asking us for it since the first series, and this is the proper UK jar, shipped from within Canada.

Kaleb's opinion of it has not been sought.

Frequently asked questions about Diddly Squat Farm Strawberry Jam

Q: Is this the jam from Clarkson's Farm?

A: It is the Diddly Squat Farm jar, the farm from the programme. Same name and label you have seen on the farm shop shelves.

Q: How big is the jar?

A: A 340g jar, the usual British jam size. Enough for a good run of toast, or one ambitious Victoria sponge.

Q: Does it make a good gift?

A: For anyone who watches the show, very much so. It gets a laugh before the lid is even off.

More about Diddly Squat Farm Strawberry Jam

Strawberry jam is the default jar in a British kitchen. It is the jam in the jam sandwich, the red layer in a cream tea and the stripe through a Victoria sponge. Other jams come and go; this one is always open at the back of the fridge door.

In Canada, people mostly find it after a binge of Clarkson's Farm on a wet weekend. The queue at the farm shop in Oxfordshire is famously long, and the flight to join it is longer, so a jar with that label on the kitchen table is the next best thing.

It is a standard British 340g jar, the size that sits happily in the cupboard until you open it. Once the lid is off, check the label for how to keep it. Toast in the morning, scones at the weekend, a sponge when someone has a birthday.

It goes with the rest of a proper British spread: a pack of crumpets, a loaf for toasting, a pot of strong tea. Fans of the show often buy it as a gift for the one person in the family who has watched every episode twice.

The story of Diddly Squat Farm Strawberry Jam

A farm named after nothing, in a jar

A farm named for producing next to nothing has produced a jar of jam, and you are holding it. Diddly Squat Farm Strawberry Jam comes from Jeremy Clarkson's farm near Chipping Norton. The official shop describes its jams as homemade, using produce from Diddly Squat Farm itself. Spread it on toast and you are, technically, eating a small piece of the telly. The toast will not care. Whoever in your house has watched every episode twice very much will.

A thousand acres of diddly squat

Clarkson bought about a thousand acres near Chipping Norton in 2008, land that was formerly part of the Sarsden estate. A local villager contract-farmed it until he retired in 2019, and then Clarkson had a go himself. He renamed it Diddly Squat, slang for the least amount, or nothing, to indicate its lack of productivity. Honest labelling, at least. Then Clarkson's Farm on Amazon Prime Video came along and made the place internationally known.

All because of the potatoes

The Diddly Squat Farm Shop was opened in 2020 by Jeremy Clarkson and Lisa Hogan. It was his idea, after he accidentally produced 40 tonnes of potatoes. Most of us over-order a takeaway. He over-ordered a field. The shop is known for drawing very long visitor queues, and it came through a two-month closure after a council dispute over the roofing material. Very British, that: a queue down the road and a row about the roof.

Off the farm and up the road

The products are made on the farm itself or by neighbouring businesses in the Cotswolds. Jam is only the start: the chutneys and condiments carry the name too, and from the same fields came Hawkstone Lager, created from barley grown on the farm after a cut in government farm subsidies in 2021. In 2024 the products went nationwide via Amazon Fresh, the first time they were sold on the UK high street. Now a jar has turned up here, and you did not even have to queue.
