In Britain, Easter eggs get a whole aisle to themselves, weeks before anyone has painted a real egg. Every big chocolate name puts out its own, and Twix is one of the ones people go looking for by name.

That is why it gets searched for in Canada. Nobody wants a random chocolate egg at Easter. You want the box you recognise from across the room, the one you had at your nan's or swapped with your cousin at the end of the egg hunt.

A medium egg is the honest size: plenty for one person, enough to share if you are feeling generous, which nobody ever is on Easter Sunday. It comes boxed, and it keeps happily in a cool, dry cupboard, well away from sunny windowsills and radiators, until the day.
