Sensations Roasted Chicken & Thyme

British crisps have a pecking order. Ready salted lives in the lunchbox, the everyday flavours get argued over at the corner shop, and Sensations are the ones that get put out in a proper bowl when the good glasses come out. Roasted chicken and thyme is the one that tastes most like dinner.

A flavour you grew up with is hard to describe to anyone else, so you go looking for the exact one. This is the bag from the pub, the birthday buffet and the night in with the telly, and when that is the one you want, only this one will do.

It comes as a sealed bag that sits quietly in the cupboard until there is a reason to open it, and there is usually a reason. Tip it into a bowl, put it next to a dip and a cold drink, and stand well back. If any survive, roll the top down and clip it.

People rarely stop at one bag. The basket tends to fill up with the rest of a British night in: more crisps, a tin of something sweet for afterwards, and a decent box of tea for the morning.
