In Britain, Percy is less a sweet than a reflex. You go into M&S for a sandwich and come out with a sandwich and a bag of pigs, and nobody asks any questions.

Percy Pig belongs to M&S, so finding him means finding M&S, which is the tricky part from this side of the Atlantic. That is why people search for him by name: they have tried describing him to friends here, and "pink pig sweets, but the good ones" only gets you so far.

A 150g bag is enough to go round a film night, in theory. In practice it goes round once, then lives on the arm of whoever is sitting nearest. Keep it sealed somewhere cool and dry in the cupboard and it will wait patiently until somebody remembers it is there.

Percy tends to travel in good company. Plenty of people put him in the basket alongside other British bits, a packet of proper biscuits or a box of tea, and turn an ordinary evening into something that tastes a bit like a Saturday back home.
