About Morrisons Custard Creams

About Morrisons Custard Creams

Nobody has ever eaten one custard cream. You eat one, then another to straighten the edge of the packet, and suddenly the packet is a different shape. These are Morrisons Custard Creams, the supermarket's own, straight off a British shelf.

Two crisp biscuits with that fussy pattern pressed into the top, the filling squashed in the middle, and a mug of tea that is no longer big enough.

There are two schools of thought. Twist it apart and scrape the middle off with your teeth, or dunk it whole and hope. Both are correct. A big packet means you can test each method before the kettle has finished boiling.

Frequently asked questions about Morrisons Custard Creams

Q: Is this the UK version?

A: Yes. These are Morrisons' own custard creams, made for British supermarket shelves, and we ship them from within Canada.

Q: How big is the packet?

A: It is a 400g packet, which sounds like plenty until there are two of you and a pot of tea.

Q: Are they good to send as a gift?

A: For someone who grew up with a biscuit tin on the go, very much so. Pair them with a box of proper tea and you have sent a whole afternoon.

More about Morrisons Custard Creams

The custard cream is one of the fixed points of the British biscuit tin, sitting alongside the bourbon and the rich tea. It turns up on the plate at work meetings, next to the kettle at your nan's, and in the spare room at every B&B in the country.

For a lot of people, the supermarket's own packet is the one that was actually in the cupboard growing up. If Morrisons was your big shop, these are the custard creams you remember, and no amount of describing them to a Canadian friend quite does the job. You have to hand them one.

The 400g packet is a proper one for the cupboard. Once it is open, fold it over and clip it, or tip the lot into a tin, and they keep their snap. They are built for dunking, though a custard cream left in too long will make its feelings known at the bottom of your mug.

Most people pick these up with a box of British tea bags, because a custard cream without a cup of tea is just a biscuit standing around. A packet of bourbons alongside settles any argument about which is better.
