Cadbury Roses Tub - 600g

Roses is one of the great British tubs of assorted chocolates, the kind that turns up on the sideboard when the relatives arrive and somehow never makes it back into the cupboard. It is Cadbury, so the chocolate is the one most British people grew up on.

People in Canada go looking for it because nothing else gets the moment quite right: the twist of the wrapper, the rattle of a lid being prised off, the hand hovering while someone hunts for their favourite and pretends they are not.

It comes as a tub with a lid, and the chocolates are wrapped one by one, so it can be opened, closed and raided for weeks. Keep it somewhere cool and well away from the radiator. It goes out when people visit, round the table after dinner, or into the staff room if you want to be liked.

Plenty of people put a bar of Cadbury Dairy Milk in the basket alongside it, on the reasonable grounds that the tub technically belongs to everyone and the bar does not.
