Galaxy Caramel - 48g

Galaxy sits at the smooth end of the British chocolate shelf. It is the bar people name when they mean silky rather than snappy, and the caramel version has been a corner shop regular for years: by the till, at the petrol station, slipped into a lunchbox.

People search for it by name because the taste is specific. You remember the Galaxy name on the wrapper and the way the caramel stretched, and close enough never quite scratches the itch.

It is a single bar, one person's worth, or two people's if somebody is feeling generous. Keep it somewhere cool and out of the sun and the caramel stays where it belongs. It fits in a coat pocket, a desk drawer or a parcel for someone who has been away from Britain too long.

Galaxy makes more than the caramel bar: there is the plain smooth milk bar, Ripple, Minstrels and Counters, all from the same family. Most people who come in for one Galaxy leave with a few British favourites alongside it, usually a box of tea to go with the chocolate.
