Galaxy Smooth Milk - 42g

In Britain, Galaxy sits right in the middle of the milk chocolate bars everyone grew up with. People rarely talk about what it tastes like. They talk about how it feels, which tells you most of what you need to know.

Memory is specific. When you have spent years reaching for a Galaxy without thinking, you want that exact bar, that exact melt, not something roughly in the neighbourhood. So people in Canada type the name in word for word, and fair enough.

This is the single 42g bar, the one-person size, built for a coat pocket, a desk drawer or the walk home. Keep it somewhere cool and dry, well away from the radiator and the sunny windowsill, and it will sit happily in the cupboard until somebody finds it. Somebody always finds it.

Most people do not stop at one. A few bars tend to go in the basket alongside a box of proper British tea and a packet of biscuits for dunking, which is roughly how an afternoon in a British kitchen has always gone.
